Sanskrit name: Vasa Botanical name: Adhatoda zeylanica Vernacular names: Hindi: Adusa; Kannada: aadusouge; Malayalam: atalotakam; Marathi: adoolsa, vasuka; Tamil: atatotai; Telugu: addasaramu Vasa is bitter (tikta), pungent (katu), cold in potency (sita), alleviates cough (kasa), hemorrhagic diseases (raktapitta), jaundice (kamala), fever (jvara), dyspnoea (svasa), emaciation (ksaya) and vitiation of kapha (kaphapaha). Usages: - Leaf juice of vasa is administered internally for hemorrhagic diseases (raktapitta) in a dose of 20 ml with honey or sugar candy 2-3 times a day (Astanga hridaya, Ci. 2/24).
- Leaf juice of vasa mixed with honey alleviates fever (jvara), cough (kasa), emaciation (sosa) and jaundice (kamala) in a dose 10-20 ml.(Bhavaprakasa nighatu)
