Sour belching and burning sensation in the gastric region due to untimely intake of food, excessive intake of hot and spicy foods, consumption of alcohol etc.

Botanical name: Adhatoda zeylanica
Vernacular names: Hindi: Adusa;

Vasa is bitter (tikta), pungent (katu), cold in potency (sita), alleviates cough (kasa), hemorrhagic diseases (raktapitta), jaundice (kamala), fever (jvara), dyspnoea (svasa), emaciation (ksaya) and vitiation of kapha (kaphapaha).

Usages:
  • Leaf juice of vasa is administered internally for hemorrhagic diseases (raktapitta) in a dose of 20 ml with honey or sugar candy 2-3 times a day (Astanga hridaya, Ci. 2/24).
  • Leaf juice of vasa mixed with honey alleviates fever (jvara), cough (kasa), emaciation (sosa) and jaundice (kamala) in a dose 10-20 ml.(Bhavaprakasa nighatu)
